How to get a job as an Assistant in Hollywood
(even if you don't KNOW anyone)
It's easy to land a coveted assistant's job in Hollywood if you know someone or your surname is Spielberg or Tarantino.
But what if you come from a school who's initials don't end in ...LA?
What if your mom, dad or cousins don't already work in Hollywood?
I grew up about as far as possible from Hollywood (over 7,000 miles from LA)
I then went to college in a small town on the East Coast of the US.
When I started job hunting I knew no one working in the entertainment industry.
I'm now an assistant to the Senior Vice President's of TV production at a major Hollywood studio and learning more and more about the business of show business every day.
Initially though it wasn't so great. As an outsider and with no nepotistic advantage, I struggled to get an entry level position in the Hollywood entertainment industry.
But several months later I discovered an insider's secret that changed everything and soon I was working at a major studio.
Looking back, the process I eventually discovered would have saved me at least 6 months of fruitless job-hunting if I had only known about it earlier.
I now want to help other college graduates follow in my footsteps and have created a 10 step process that will help you get an assistants role in the entertainment industry.
The last three years have been amazing.
I've been fortunate to work and learn from a cross section of the entertainment industry.
From a small up and coming production house, a world famous TV and film comedian, a veteran of the studio music business, a senior vice president who has gone on to work on a major international TV project, a head of a major reality TV studio and SVPs managing TV production for Network, cable and streaming TV shows.
The experience and behind the scenes knowledge I have been exposed to has provided me an education that can't be bought.
